Gents: Ah, the end of semester one, a time replete with exams, anxiety, and shoddy English teacher craftsmanship.
You obviously took your exam in class today...nice work. Here's an overview of what's to come
1. Your Writing Center tutorials are due on January 11, right before grades are due. If you could complete them previous to this date, I'd be much obliged
2. You also have to complete a writing center blog. For your semester of work, please respond to the following questions; you do not have to answer all of these in order.
3. During break, please read Waiting for Godot, a two-act tragicomedy by Samuel Beckett. Here's an online version (link); you may also purchase your own copy for annotation and such (I'd recommend this). We'll be seeing the play on January 20th.
4. Speaking of that field trip... here's the permission slip (PDF), which you should dropbox before 1/20/14.

2. You also have to complete a writing center blog. For your semester of work, please respond to the following questions; you do not have to answer all of these in order.
- Explain the work you did this quarter with your mentor group. With what kind of essays / assignments did you help students? With what grade level of student did you work most?
- Evaluate your own work with students. What did you do well? In what areas did you struggle?
- Connect your Writing Center work with your own writing. What did you learn about the writing process as you helped students with their work? About revision? About your own writing for this and other classes?
- What problems / issues did you have with working in the Writing Center? Explain logistical as well as social problems.

Other than that... enjoy your break. Relax, eat, sleep, read for fun... watch football. Do something enjoyable. One more semester... Enjoy Linus's explanation of Christmas. And congratulations on one semester down. | |
