Gents: Today in class, we did the following:
- Took a quick Word-A-Day vocabulary quiz.
- Enjoyed a seminar over Thoreau's On the Duty of Civil Disobedience. My notes are here for A2 (Word) / and here for B2 (Word)
- I handed back group work. What joy!
- (A2) Read Malcolm Gladwell's "Small Change: Why the Revolution Won't be Tweeted" (Language of Composition text; link to the New Yorker article) / (B2) Read your group's text dealing with the background of King's Letter (see the unit page)
- Write your first draft of your Quarter Project 2 persuasion piece. Remember: If you're writing a visual text (billboard, editorial cartoon, commercial), you should still bring a draft, along with any necessary explanatory writing to clarify your purpose. Along with your work, you should complete a SOAPS analysis (see Language of Composition Chapter 1 for clarity).
- A2 will read King's "Letter from Birmingham Jail" for Thursday; B2 will read it for Friday. See The Language of Composition.
