Happy first day of AP Language; here's your homework for day one (A4=Monday, B3=Tuesday):
2. What has been your experience with review / revision? (from both peers and teachers)
3. Respond to the resources I asked you to read / review... Are they contrary to your writing practices, in line with
them, or completely foreign? Explain, referencing specific parts of each resource in your response.
Finally, please review the syllabus and complete the Syllabus Review Sheet (PDF).
- sign up for Anu Garg's "Word-A-Day" email list (http://www.wordsmith.org/awad/), from which we'll draw class vocabulary.
- Set up your blog with the instructions handed out in class and the Student Blog Instructions (PDF).
- Read / Review the following: Peer Review and the Socratic Seminar (PPT); the Composition Pyramid (PDF); Anne LaMott's "Shitty First Drafts" (PDF); and the YouTube video below from the Indiana University Southwest Writing Center.
- Complete your first blog entry about your own writing practices; remember that blogs should typically be roughly 500-800 words, though I'm looking for a clear, cogent, well-constructed piece of writing:
