Today, y'all completed your quarter exam. Whew. For homework: Take a look at the Quarter 4 NIRP Reading List (Word). Choose your top 3-5 choices; on Monday / Tuesday, we'll have a draft in class to choose the books. That's it. Otherwise, enjoy your weekend. Gents: We wrapped up the TED talks for the week--kudos to y'all who spoke today.
For homework: Please complete your TED blog if you didn't speak today. Otherwise, prepare for your exam on Friday by reviewing your synthesis and rhetorical analysis essays from throughout the quarter. Also, Writing Center tutorials (sent in one email) and extra credit are due on Friday. As always, let me know if you have any questions. Gents: We completed our TED conference's B2 section. Kudos!

For homework, please read the selection from Show and Tell by Scott McCloud (805-818) and "Watching TV Makes You Smarter" by Steven Johnson (827-838). TED Talks start next week (link here for schedule) Lastly, for extra credit, consider the following: Watch A Place at the Table (on Netflix or via Amazon Instant Video); then, write a letter to your local Congressperson regarding legislation regarding child nutrition programs. You should include informatoin from the documentary and your research Here's a rudimentary letter with a flyer (PDF); you don't have to follow this structure, but it's a nice start, as your letter should be a full page of writing.
