Gents: Sorry that I wasn't in class today to work with y'all; I'll be gone on Kairos for the rest of the week. Here's your schedule for what assignment needs to be finished on/by its due date:
- For today's class: The substitute will administer your quiz over the Language of Composition reading and the O'Brien story. When the entire class has finished (you'll have 30 minutes!), please have a teacher-less seminar over the reading for today and the play Seven Spots on the Sun, focusing on what soldiers carry with them as a result of war. Your seminar reflection will be due on Tuesday of next week (November 5th); in your analysis / evaluation, please include details / quotes from David Finkel's "The Return" (PDF) from The New Yorker as a means of extending the discussion from today to issues related to PTSD.
- For Thursday: Please print a copy of your "Stranger in the Photo is Me" essay (with the picture) for peer consultation / review in class (which you should run like any other old Writing Center consultation, working with a partner). Here's a peer consultation form for you (including the Worlde creation for your writing): "Stranger in the Photo is Me" Peer Review (PDF). The revised copy of this essay will be due on Thursday, November 7th.
On Tuesday, we'll discuss your seminar, Finkel's article, and your quiz; I'll also offer some comments about your revised drafts of your "Stranger" essays.
As always, if you have any questions, please let me know. Enjoy your seminar and classes without me!
