Gents: Yes, that's Lady Gaga as a zombie.
Today, our friends Chandler, Zach, and Jacob discussed our culture's cult of celebrity, presenting some fine analysis of World War Z, the Kanye West police office letter, and the Onion article about "attractive" celebrities. I don't have their Power Point as a link, so ask them for the notes.
For homework, please write your one blog for this week...and our one class. You should write your celebrity satire letter, along with a bit of analysis of how your satire operates. Then, give some thought about / connections among the readings you did for today.
In preparation for Davis, Zac, and Nick's presentation on survivalism...well...they'll have something for you to read. I'm guessing that they'd like you to read the Jesika Hendricks pages in the text (which you've already reviewed), as well as... someone else? Obviously, you guys need to give us something more explicit here... (Update: Review Hendricks and Redeker; read the Cracked link)
Also, please be reading Hamlet (link) in preparation for our February 19th field trip to Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. Speaking of that...PLEASE COMPLETE THE PERMISSION SLIP (PDF) and dropbox it.
Finally... please let me know if you'd like to present for the symposium on February 27th...remember that you can adapt your satire presentation to a ten/fifteen minute period, or you could present about your Rogerian argument as a means to peacemaking. Let me know who is presenting what... and enjoy the weekend!
